TEXARKANA — The suspect from a double shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at the Waffle House on North State Line Avenue has turned himself in, according to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
Calvin Gardner turned himself in to police at approximately 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, police say. Gardner was booked into the Bi-State Jail for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police. There has been no bond set fro Gardner at this time.
At 3:12 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the Waffle House on North State Line Avenue to the report of a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds with one having ben shot in the chest and the other in the back and arm.
Prior to being transported to area hospitals via EMS, officers began providing emergency aid. One man was at first listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition, and both are expected to survive.
According to TTPD detectives, the incident was a continuation of an altercation that occurred a few minutes prior in Texarkana, Ark. A brief fight occurred in the Waffle House parking lot after some involved in the earlier altercation pulled into the parking lot, which led to Gardner drawing a gun and firing several shots at the two men, police say. Gardner was last seen driving south on Stateline in a white Lincoln Navigator, according to police.
