
Jamar Vaughn helped DeKalb score one of the school’s biggest wins in years last Friday in upsetting state-ranked Daingerfield, 35-28.
Vaughn played a major role for the Bears offensively, and defensively. Vaughn rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns, while contributing nine tackles and a fumble recovery on defense.
That performance earns Vaughn this week’s Dewey Moore Ford/Fox Sports Texarkana Player of the Week.
The Bears remain unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play. DeKalb’s next encounter is with Queen City.
Davis is ESPN Texarkana honoree
Redwater quarterback Preston Davis is the Dewey Moore Ford/ESPN Texarkana Player of the Week.
Davis accounted for five touchdowns in the Dragons’ victory over Tyler Bishop Grace, 52-32.
The Dragons’ signal-caller completed 5 of 12 passes for 144 yards, including touchdowns to Nick Long and Trent Swink. Davis ran for three touchdowns on runs of 3, 51 and 15 yards.
KPYN recognizes Daniel Hernandez
Down in Cass County Atlanta sophomore Daniel Hernandez spoiled a huge comeback by Liberty-Eylau. Hernandez kicked a 42-yard field goal that hit the crossbar and bounced over on the final play of the game to give the Rabbits a 41-38 victory. He had also kicked a 32-yard field goal on the last play of the first half.
The effort earns Hernandez the Dewey Moore Ford/KPYN Player of the Week honor.
