TYLER, Texas — The Pleasant Grove Hawks systematically dispatched the Chapel Hill Bulldogs 63-21 Friday night at Bulldog Stadium to reach 5-0 on the season.
Quarterback Ben Harmon completed five passes on 10 attempts for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Harmon’s leading receiver was Bruce Garrett with two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Koiler caught the other scoring throw of seven yards. Shayne Nelson caught a 28-yard pass, and Sergio Rodriguez recorded a 14-yard reception.
Garrett was the leading rusher for the Hawks with 134 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Johnson added nine carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns. K.J. Hicks produced six carries for 40 yards and a touchdown. Elijah Jackson also had three carries for 11 yards and two touchdowns.
Pleasant Grove out-gained the Bulldogs 572 yards to 243, and it was further exemplified by the Hawks producing 21 first downs to Chapel Hill’s 11. Pleasant Grove gained 503 rushing yards on 55 carries, and their run defense squelched the Bulldogs, allowing just 45 yards on 23 carries. Chapel Hill sought their yards through the air with 20 completions on 37 attempts for 198 yards and three touchdowns.
The Hawks host Carthage next Friday at Hawk Stadium. Chapel Hill falls to 2-3 on the season and has the week off before getting back into action at Kilgore on Oct. 11.
