TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested a motorist for deadly conduct late last week after the suspect pointed a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident.

TTPD arrested 26-year-old Cody Graf of Ashdown, Arkansas, and booked him at the Bi-State jail.

According to police, the victim said a man, later identified as Graf, started following her while honking his horn after the victim inadvertently changed lanes into Graf’s path. When the victim stopped in the Central Mall parking lot, Graf pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle, police say, and Graf pointed a handgun at the victim.

The victim sped away immediately with Graf chasing her, according to police, and holding the gun out of the window of his truck.

When the victim saw an officer on a traffic stop on Richmond Road, the victim pulled in behind the patrol unit, though Graf continued driving and left the area, police say.

According to police, Graf called 911 several minutes after the incident to report that his vehicle had been hit and asked officers to meet him at Central Mall in the parking lot. When asked, according to police, Graf told officers he did point the gun at the victim in the other vehicle, but only because the passenger in the other vehicle pointed one at him.

According to police, the victim had only three young children in the back seat of the vehicle.

No damage was observed to either vehicle, and the victim consented to officers searching the vehicle, where no pistol was discovered.

Graf was released with a $5,000 bond, though his pistol and ammunition that he had in his truck were seized as evidence.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, to avoid aggressive driving, motorists should plan ahead, keep their emotions in check, focus on their own driving, and avoid using inappropriate gestures when cut off or otherwise impeded on the roadway.
