Hot Springs holds on 9-6 over Arkansas High

Arkansas High boys lose El Dorado

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Hot Springs Trojans established a nine-point lead late in the fourth quarter, and held on for dear life as they outlasted the Arkansas High Razorbacks 9-6 Friday night at Hot Springs High School.

Trojans quarterback Isaac Shelor completed 10 passes on 22 attempts for 74 yards and a 12-yard touchdown. Trojans running back Carlos Brewer carried 20 times for 83 yards as the home side gained 156 total yards on offense compared to the Hogs’ 258.

Arkansas High running back Torie Blair carried 24 times for 150 yards and scored a 1-yard touchdown to help the Razorbacks cut into the Trojans’ late fourth quarter lead. The extra point failed, and the Hogs were unable to get the ball back as the Trojans ran out the clock on the next possession.

Razorbacks quarterback Braylon Bishop completed 12-of-27 for 53 yards as the Arkansas High big-play passing game had trouble taking off in the rainy conditions.

Arkansas High falls to 4-3 on the season with a 3-2 record in conference play. The Razorbacks go home to take on the Hope Bobcats next Friday night.

The Trojans are 5-3 with a 4-1 mark in conference play. Hot Springs takes to the road next Friday night as they face the Camden Fairview Cardinals.
