BETHANY, Okla. – Southern Nazarene gave Ouachita Baptist University’s football team a scare at the SNU Football Stadium.
The nationally-ranked Tigers trailed 13-7 at halftime. Two Brockton Brown touchdowns in the third quarter rallied OBU (8-0) to a 27-13 victory. Brown finished the game with 157 yards and three touchdowns. His touchdown runs were 25, 13 and 60 yards.
Muleriders next for Ouachita Baptist
First place will be at stake next Saturday. The Tigers and Southern Arkansas (7-1) clash at El Dorado’s Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers scored an insurance touchdown in the final minutes. Pleasant Grove graduate T.J. Cole scored on a 28-yard run. Cole finished the game with 88 yards on 15 carries.
Ouachita Baptist finished with 278 yards on the ground, outgaining Southern Nazarene, 305 to 135.
In other Great American Conference games Saturday, Southern Arkansas rallied past East Central Oklahoma, 24-23. Henderson State outlasted Southeastern Oklahoma, 41-27. Oklahoma Baptist edged UA-Monticello, 33-31.
In late games, Harding University played at Northwestern Oklahoma. Arkansas Tech was at Southwestern Oklahoma.
