TEXARKANA — Jalen Pastchol returned an interception for a touchdown and caught an 85-yard bomb to help the Arkansas Razorbacks bury the Hope Bobcats 53-0 Friday night at Razorback Stadium.
Pastchol picked off the Bobcats in the first quarter and returned the interception for a touchdown to give the Hogs a 20-0 after the successful extra point. In the second quarter, Pastchol caught an 88-yard pass from quarterback Braylon Bishop to give Arkansas High a 40-0 advantage.
Bishop finished with five completions on eight attempts for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Reserve quarterback Layton Lammers completed his only pass for three yards and rushed two times for 13 yards.
Bishop also three carries for a team-high 60 yards and two touchdowns. Torie Blair, who caught Bishop’s 44-yard touchdown pass, also rushed 10 times for 51 yards, scoring from two yards out.
The Hogs out-gained Hope 396 yards to 209. Arkansas High’s defense held the Bobcats to 67 rushing yards on 19 carries. The Razorbacks produced five takeaways with Kelvin Gray returning a fumble for a touchdown in the first quarter, and Jamarious Johnson picking off Hope in the second quarter. Arkansas High also managed to recover a fumble on a Hope kickoff return in the second quarter of the ballgame with the score 47-0.
Arkansas High improves to 5-3 overall with a 4-2 conference record. The Razorbacks finish their regular season next Friday at De Queen.
Hope falls to 1-8 overall with a 1-5 record in conference play. The Bobcats will host Magnolia next Friday to finish out the season.
