McKinney Boyd takes a 10-shot lead into Saturday's final 18 holes in the Jay Brewer Memorial Lady Tigers Golf Classic.


McKinney Boyd is the early leader in the Jay Brewer Memorial Lady Tigers Golf Classic at Texarkana Country Club.

Krissy Fowler posted a 6-over-par 78 to help Boyd shoot 328 in Friday’s opening round. She is tied for second place in the medalist competion with Texas High’s Graci Henard.

Boyd’s other golfers were Brooke Morales (81), Ellie Rippee (84), Molly Murray (85) and Avery Brott (91).

Madison Head shot 80 for Aledo. Teammates Ella Fisher and Aly Saunders both posted 82. Georgia Giddens shot 94, while Reid Van Ness had a 95.

Aledo second to McKinney Boyd

Aledo is second in the team race at 338, with Houston Memorial third in the 15-school field at 342.

Memorial’s Jackie Nguyen has a commanding lead in the individual action after shooting a spectacular 4-under-par 68.

Ashleigh Stoehr shot 82 for Memorial, Lydia Howard 91, and Ellen Ranslem 101.

The host Tigers are in the middle of the pack. Kenzie Parker shot 86 for Texas High, while Autumn Parrott and Angie Parrott posted scores of 101 and 122, respectively.

The final 18 holes is Saturday with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
