Miller County Sheriff’s Dept: Aggravated Assault Arrest

Miller County Sheriff’s

TEXARKANA, Arkansas – On Sunday, May 26, 2019 at approximately 11:48am, Miller County Deputies said they responded to an address on Miller County Road 158 in Southern Miller County regarding shots fired.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Office said that upon deputies arrival, the victim reported that he was parked on family property across from Elizabeth Baptist Church where he was attending services and was retrieving items from his personal vehicle when the suspect, Marlon Tyson, B/M 47 of Miller County fired several shots from a rifle.  Mr. Tyson was reportedly inside an 18-wheel tractor at the time of the shooting. Multiple rounds struck the victims car, but no injuries were reported.  A witness exited the church and made verbal contact with the suspect, who stopped firing the rifle at that time.

Mr. Tyson left the scene prior to MCSO Deputies arrival, and the investigation revealed that there were ongoing family issues involving Mr. Tyson, and the victim in the case over property rights.  Based on evidence collected and witness interviews, a warrant for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons Prohibited was issued for Mr. Tyson.  Information led investigators to believe that Mr. Tyson had fled the area.

On November 12, Mr. Tyson was arrested by the Hillsboro County Florida Sheriff’s Department on the outstanding Miller County warrant.  Mr. Tyson was extradited and transported to the Miller County Detention Center where he was booked without incident on November 15.
