
MARSHALL, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s men and women lost big leads in the second half Saturday. Both teams lost to Wiley College in their Red River Athletic Conference debuts.
The Eagles’ men led by as many as 12 points in the final half. They watched an eight-point cushion disappear in the final five minutes. Taylon Grogan poured in 25 points to rally Wiley College past TAMU-T, 74-69.
The game was tied 37-37 after the first half, but the Eagles captured the lead early in the final 20 minutes. TAMU-T falls to 4-8 on the year, and 0-1 in the RRAC.
Desmond Kennedy led the Eagles’ offense with 16 points. Shaheed Halk scored 15, while Connor Ouellette contributed 12. Texarkana freshman Decorion Phillips hit the trifecta with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Wiley College women get hot in 2nd half
Texarkana’s women built a 33-27 lead in the first half. Wiley captured the lead in the third quarter. Brianna Tolliver scored 26 points for the winners, while Kyari Moore added 21 points and 17 rebounds.
Abby Dykes of De Queen, Ark., led the Eagles with 17 points. Haley Stilson scored 12 points, with Heavunli Reese and Haylee Washington contributing 11 points each.
TAMU-T returns to RRAC play Thursday at LSU-Alexandria. The Eagles are on the road again Saturday at LSU-Shreveport.
