With the tournament schedule behind them Texas High’s Tigers played only their second home game of the season Monday night, squaring their Tiger Center record with a 65-56 victory over Idabel.
The Tigers improved to 7-8 by taking a 3-point lead at halftime and never trailing against a game Warriors squad.
Scoreless in the first half, junior guard Ben DePriest scored 10 of his 14 points in the third quarter to held the Tigers open a 10-point lead. The Warriors never got closer than six points despite 11 points in the final period by Chris Thompson, who scored all his 14 in the second half.
The Tigers bombed in 10 3-pointers, including three in the second quarter by C.J. Kelly, Texas HIgh’s leading scorer with 15 points. DePriest and Zane Dodson were next, the latter scoring nine off the bench.
King leads Idabel with 20 points
JaQuavius King had 20 to lead Idabel. Jalen Ellis had 12.
Texas High ran away with both sub-varsity games. Damon Augusta scored 25 points to lead the 9th grade to a 54-28 rout. Jakobe Johnson had 16 points, Sawyer Pritchard 12 and Jayden Godwin 10 in the junior varsity’s 64-29 rout.
Texas High hosts Magnolia Friday.
