TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department announced Friday the felony warrant for a suspect who allegedly fled in a vehicle from police.
According to police, Le’Derek Ivery fled from TTPD officers on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at around 2:00 a.m. in a silver car after being passed out in the vehicle. Police say that Ivery led them on a chase to Interstate 30, where they broke off the chase due to how fast and dangerous Ivery was allegedly driving.
TTPD officers arrived at a convenience store on Summerhill Road where a call had been made that a man had been passed out in the driver’s seat of the silver car for over an hour. After officers knocked on the window, according to police, Ivery woke up and started tapping back on the window at police.
Ivery did not obey commands to step out of the vehicle, police say, and drove off, hitting a trash can in the process of leaving the scene.
Shortly after TTPD let other agencies know of the pursuit, a Hempstead County deputy reported he had found the silver car abandoned at mile marker 22 on I-30 and also recovered Ivery’s ID inside, police say.
According to police, Ivery called Texarkana Arkansas Police received a call on Saturday from Ivery reporting his car as stolen. Police say that Ivery reported his mother woke him from his sleep to alert him that his car had been involved in a pursuit. According to police, Ivery said he couldn’t have been driving the vehicle because he had been asleep since 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.
Police say that surveillance footage from the convenience store reveals Ivery entering the store to make a purchase before returning to the vehicle and passing out.
TTPD is asking anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Ivery to give them a call at 903-798-3116.
