TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, TAPD, is investigating a homicide that took place on Monday.
According to police, a call of a person “possibly being shot in the chest” was made and the incident was at the 2200 block of East Street. Police say that upon the officers’ arrival, there was one victim to be found, 23-year-old Phillip A. Lee. Police say that Lee was lying in front of a nearby apartment building and sustained what seemed to be a gunshot wound. TAPD says the officers rendered immediate aid and secured the scene so that an ambulance could get to Lee and safely transport him.
Police say that witnesses were identified at the scene and also that evidence was processed and collected. Investigations were able to quickly establish leads and a possible motive in the case, according to police.
Because Lee succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening, the investigation is a homicide investigation.
Arrest warrants for multiple individuals believed to have been involved in the homicide or had a role are expected soon, police say.
Anyone with any information on this homicide is invited to call the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department at (903) 798-3154 or (903) 794-STOP.
