The Dallas Cowboys drafted former Oklahoma Sooners receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall pick in Round 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft Thursday evening.

Lamb left the Sooners with the most career receptions of at least 40 yards with 24. The Richmond, Texas, product has the ability to play the slot, a position vacated when receiver Randall Cobb left for free agency and signed with the Houston Texans.

The 6-2, 191-pound receiver played for Oklahoma, a school that has experience playing in Big 12 championship games and College Football Playoff semifinals.

Lamb told reporters at the NFL combine in February that this big game experience is what prepares him for the NFL.

“The atmosphere was different, the games were different, my mindset and my approach toward the game were a lot different,” said Lamb. “I just wanted to be more aggressive because I knew the intensity and aggressiveness of the opponent I was playing was going to come with. Guys in the SEC are a lot bigger than guys in the Big 12, so I wanted to play big, play faster, play stronger.”

Lamb will still be in the spotlight as he goes to the Cowboys and teams up with Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper and third-year No. 2 Michael Gallup. If nothing else, the Cowboys have provided quarterback Dak Prescott with weapons.
