TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested a man Wednesday evening after he allegedly pursued another man and struck him with his car near the intersection of Texas Boulevard and West 40th Street.
Police say 20-year-old Kelli Jack of Texarkana, Arkansas, struck the 32-year-old victim with his vehicle shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery and discovered the victim lying injured in the roadway on Texas Boulevard.
Detectives interviewed Jack, who said the victim attempted to rob him when he gave him a ride to a nearby convenience store. According to investigators via Jack, the victim produced a firearm and stole Jack’s wallet. Jack, who was in his car, then caught up with the victim, who was fleeing on foot. According to police via Jack, he struck the victim with his vehicle once he caught up with him to recover his property.
Police say that the evidence recovered at the scene led officers to question Jack’s account of the events. Jack was then arrested for aggravated assault and possession of marijuana. Jack has been booked into the Bi-State Jail. His bond on both charges is still pending, and the incident remains under investigation.
The victim was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center suffering from serious injuries and is currently listed in critical condition.
