TEXARKANA — The Pleasant Grove Independent School District announced they will have the graduation ceremony of the 2020 class on June 5 at Hawk Stadium.
The decision comes after the Texas Education Agency updated their “guidance for graduation ceremonies.”
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020 with an in-person graduation ceremony,” said PGISD Superintendent Chad Pirtle. “The opportunity to bring this group of seniors back together one more time at Hawk Stadium will make for a very special night.”
PGHS principal Todd Marshall was eager to express his excitement about the June commencement.
“Class of 2020, I can’t wait to celebrate you on June 5, 2020!” Marshall wrote on Twitter.

District officials are currently working on the logistics of the graduation ceremony following the new guidance from the Texas Education Agency.
Attendees should expect enhanced safety guidelines and procedures related to social distancing. As such, the ceremony will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend Hawk Stadium. Details on how to live-stream the commencement will become available to the community at a later date.
Pleasant Grove ISD extends their gratitude to students, parents, and the community for staying patient as the healthy and safety of staff and students remains the priority in planning the ceremony.
