TTPD arrests Walmart armed robbery suspect

TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) arrested a man Wednesday afternoon charged with aggravated robbery committed at the Walmart on New Boston Road.

At 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to the Walmart at 4000 New Boston Road. According to police, 78-year-old Ronnie Seymour of Texarkana, Arkansas, produced a pistol at a checkout lane and ordered the clerk to give him the money in the register.

Police say that the clerk backed away from the register instead, and Seymour went around the register and allegedly took money from the register himself.

According to police, Seymour left the Walmart with an undisclosed amount of money. As Seymour was attempting to drive out of the nearby Lowe’s parking lot, TTPD stopped him and arrested him.

Police say that they found disguises and handwritten notes inside Seymour’s vehicle that indicate he may have planned more robberies. The officers were able to recovery the stolen money and pistol that Seymour used in the robbery.

Police transported Seymour to the Bi-State Jail where he is being held on the aggravated robbery charge.
