Report: AHS leads Texarkana in college readiness

TEXARKANA — Arkansas High School has the highest College Readiness Index in the Texarkana metro area according to the 2020 Best High School Rankings from U.S. News and World Report.

Not only does Arkansas High have the highest-ranking CRI score in the area in the report, but Arkansas High’s CRI of 29.3 is the 37th-best in the state of Arkansas.

““I am so proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and students,” AHS principal Michael Odom said. “The AHS staff and students worked diligently to achieve this college readiness ranking, and the hard work paid off.”

Over 60% of seniors at Arkansas High are enrolled in Advanced Placement courses.

Not only can Arkansas High students enroll in AP and concurrent college credit courses, but students can experience the full college immersion experience at AHS Collegiate Academy. The academy offers students with a three-year curriculum that allows them the chance to earn a high school diploma and an associate degree by the time they graduate.

Students in the program attend college classes at the University of Arkansas-Texarkana campus. The customized high school experience with the rigor of college offers students a smooth transition to college in a supportive and environment ripe with academic richness.
