Sam Creed among 6 NJCAA Twins additions


TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Twins announced the addition of six NJCAA players from Texas, including Sam Creed from Paris Junior College.

Creed played in 12 games for Paris Junior College, hitting .421 with 12 RBIs in 2020. Though it is Creed’s first season in the TCL, he played with the Salina (Kansas) Shock in the Sunflower Collegiate League.

Dollar is another Paris Junior College player for Texarkana. The centerfielder played at George Dobson Field in the 2018 Under Armour National Tryout.

The Twins also signed Andrew Hernandez, Josh Salinas, Camron Dollar, Reed Spenrath, and Charlie Welch.

Hernandez and Salinas both comes from Wharton County Junior College and are alumni of Moody High School in Corpus Christi. Hernandez is a right-handed pitcher, while Salinas’ strong left-handed arm will be used in the outfield.

Spenrath hails from Cisco Junior College out near Abilene. The freshman recorded a .479 batting average with 38 RBIs and seven home runs in 23 games for Cisco. Spenrath also collected a .977 fielding percentage for the Wranglers.

Welch, a Pepperdine University transfer, stops in Texarkana on his way to San Jacinto College in the fall. The freshman recorded a .211 batting average with 20 hits and 10 RBIs in 2020.

Texarkana opens the 2020 season June 30 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Amarillo Sod Dogs at George Dobson Field.
