TEXARKANA — Former Texas Tigers pitcher Colby Adkins is coming back to the Twin Cities to play for the Texarkana Twins.
Adkins, who is an accounting major at Abilene Christian, returns to Texarkana to give the Twins a presence on the mound at George Dobson Field. The 6-1, 180-pound Adkins is expected to provide Texarkana with a strong arm.
Adkins was one of five players the Twins signed. The other four were Triston Dixon, Jackson Sioson, Davis Rogers, and Brett Russell.
Dixon comes to the Twins from Angelina College, where the right-handed pitcher earned a 2-2 record with 30 strikeouts in 28 innings along with a 2.25 ERA. The Corrigan, Texas, native will transfer to Texas State in the fall.
Sioson played his freshman season at Temple College, earning a 3-1 record with seven appearances, collecting 16 strikeouts, and posting a 4.20 ERA. Sioson can also play third base for the Twins if needed.
Rogers joins the Twins after appearing in 17 games for Carl Albert State College near Poteau, Okla. The junior struck out 16 batters in 27.2 innings. The Bokchito, Okla., product will transfer to East Central University in the fall.
Russell played his freshman season at Seminole State College, where he collected 46 strikeouts in 29 innings, and posted a 3.41 ERA.
Texarkana opens the 2020 season at George Dobson Field on June 30 at 7:05 p.m. against the Amarillo Sod Dogs. The Twins will be offering fans $2 drinks as they look forward to an exciting TCL season with five minor league organizations joining the league.
