TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) arrested a couple last week that was burgling the house of a recently deceased woman in the Highland Park neighborhood.
Police arrested Randel Daniels and Lititia Reynolds after receiving a 911 call about a burglary in progress. According to TTPD, the son of the deceased woman had gone to her house to retrieve a Bible to take to the funeral home, and believed that someone was inside the home.
According to police, several belongings from inside the home were bagged up and placed near the door, and the drawers, closets, and cabinets had been rummaged.
Police say that officers discovered a bottle of cold water sitting on the ladder leading to the attic. Daniels and Reynolds were found hiding in the floorboard of a vehicle parked in the backyard, police say. The couple indicated that were simply taking a nap, according to police, and had not been inside the home. However, police say they found Reynolds’ phone in the living room. Police also say gift cards that were previously in the home were discovered in the car with them.
Daniels and Reynolds were arrested for burglary of a habitation and booked into the Bi-State Jail with $20,000 bonds apiece. Reynolds is out on bond as Daniels remains in jail.
