Cass County sheriff’s office arrest man who allegedly shot, killed his mother

ATLANTA, Texas — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday involved in the shooting death of his own mother.

According to the sheriff’s office, 20-year-old Nathan Johns fired multiple shots from a handgun into a house near Smyrna in which his mother, Melissa Johns, lived. One shot fatally struck Johns, and she was found deceased inside her home.

Cass County deputies and investigators were called out to the residence, which is located on Highway 77 East.

Johns has been transported to the Cass County Jail and is awaiting to be magistrated.
