The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will be holding a virtual public meeting to discuss the proposed improvements to U.S.-82 in Nash and Texarkana along with improvements to FM 989 in Nash.
The TXDOT meeting will be Tuesday, July 21 at 5:00 p.m. Members of the public interested in participating can view the virtual meeting at www.txdot.gov under the title “US 82 and FM 989 Virtual Public Meeting.”
One improvement includes widening U.S.-82 from 0.9 mile west of FM 989 in Nash to I-369 (U.S.-59) West Frontage Road in Texarkana to include four lanes, a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, and sidewalks.
The second improvement is to widen FM 989 from I-30 South Frontage Road to 0.1 mile north of U.S.-82 to include four lanes, a center left-turn lane, bike lanes, and sidewalks.
The last improvement to be discussed is the realigning of the intersection of U.S.-82 and FM 989 to match traffic lanes.
The project is designed to improve safety and enhance mobility. Additional right-of-way will be required to construct the project, and contact information for employees from the right-of-way division will be available to answer any questions about the process of acquiring the properties.
Schematics will also be available online so property owners can see how the projects may affect their properties. The virtual presentation will be available for on-demand viewing after 30 days.
Schematics and exhibits will be available online at www.txdot.gov following the public meeting.
Comment cards will be available for submitting online or printing out and mailing in. Additional information about the project and meeting can be gathered by contacting Katie Martin, P.E., at 903-799-1342 or by email at Katie.Martin@txdot.gov.
