New COVID-19 fatality reported in Bowie County

TEXARKANA — The Bowie County emergency operations center reported a new fatality from COVID-19 on Friday.

The total deaths in Bowie County since the pandemic began has now risen to 35.

There have been a total of 557 cases since the pandemic began. There are currently 264 active cases being traced. There have been 259 recoveries.

Anyone who has tested positive in Bowie County is asked to contact the local health authority at 903-255-5560 and take part in contact tracing. Any healthcare provider who administers such COVID-19 testing is also asked to contact the local health authority.

There will be a new free COVID-19 testing opportunity for residents at the Bowie-Texarkana health department (902 W. 12th Street Texarkana, TX 75501) starting Monday, July 27 and running through Saturday, Aug. 8. Testing will take place every day (except Sundays) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No symptoms are required. To register, visit gogettested.com or visit on-site. Cass County currently has a total of 53 active cases, bringing their case total to 105 since the pandemic began. There have been 50 recoveries and two deaths.
