Texas A&M-Texarkana players Mike Herrera, Cole Chambers and Cal Pequeno did their part to end the Texarkana Twins’ 11-game losing streak Wednesday night at George Dobson Field.
Unfortunately for the Twins they had no supporting cast as Frisco (14-10) improved its playoff hopes with a 12-2 win.
Herrera started on the mound in his debut for the Twins. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and two runs. Chambers made the game interesting in the fifth with a double. He scored after a wild pitch and passed ball.
Texarkana’s second run scored in the ninth when newcomer Keegan Sueltz doubled. He came home of Gabriel Irwin’s single. Pequeno had the Twins only other hit with a double.
Roughriders hit two home runs
The Roughriders outhit Texarkana, 14-4. Wyatt Stapp and Max Blessinger led the winners with three hits each. Rece Stapp had a home run and single. Bobby Goodloe also homered for Frisco, while Alex Jackson and Logan Kohler contributed two hits each.
Frisco has won eight of its last 10 games. The two teams clash in the final game of the series Thursday at 7:05 p.m. It will be the Twins’ final home game of the season.
In other Texas Collegiate League play Wednesday Tulsa edged the Amarillo Sod Dogs, 5-3. San Antonio defeated the Amarillo Sod Squad, 5-1. Round Rock shut out Brazos Valley, 5-0, while Victoria beat Acadiana, 10-4.
