LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas is reporting 791 confirmed new cases of the coronavirus, and eight more people in the state have died from the illness caused by the virus. Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Thursday that at least 41,559 people in the state have tested positive since the pandemic began in early March. Hutchinson said 6,580 of those cases are active, meaning they don’t include people who have died or recovered. Arkansas Secretary of Health Dr. Jose Romero also announced Thursday that the state will no longer require COVID-19 testing of all patients undergoing elective surgical procedures.
