Texarkana

Gas prices did not see any change in Texarkana over the past week.

According to AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the Texarkana area was $1.93, a constant price from the same time a week ago. The prices are the sixth-most expensive in Texas, and four cents above the statewide average. Compared to a year ago at the same time, Texarkana drivers are paying 45 cents less for a gallon of gas.

The cheapest gas prices in Texas were found in San Antonio, where drivers are paying $1.78 for a gallon of gas. The most expensive prices were in El Paso, where drivers were paying $2.13 on average for gas.

Texas is one of 10 states that has a statewide gas price average below the $2.00 level. According tot he Energy Information Administration, prices around Texas are still showing low volatility as regional gasoline supply went above 91 million barrels while national gas demand has increased by nearly 3% compared to a week ago. Crude oil prices have stayed relatively the same in recent weeks.

“We are entering the final weeks of the summer driving season, and drivers around Texas are still paying under $2 a gallon on average,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Joshua Zuber. “Pump prices may continue to push downward as COVID-19 concerns persist, excluding any major interruptions, such as significant tropical weather in the Gulf of Mexico.”

Texas, Arkansas, and Alabama are in a three-way tie for third place for lowest prices in the nation. Louisiana keeps second place with $1.86, and Mississippi remains the cheapest state with a $1.84 statewide average.
