ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced today that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Nick Goody from the 10-day Injured List and optioned right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut to the Alternate Training Site.
Goody was on the 10-day Injured List from August 12-25 with back spasms. He threw a 1.0-inning live batting practice session at Globe Life Field prior to Tuesday’s game. Goody has no record, one save, and a 4.50 ERA (2 ER/4.0 IP) over 7 relief appearances with Texas this season, last appearing in a game on August 11 vs. Seattle. He has also stranded all 9 inherited runners in 2020. Goody recorded his first career save on July 29 vs. Arizona.
A member of the Opening Day roster, Goody was claimed on release waivers from Cleveland on November 26, 2019. He posted 7.0 scoreless innings with 2 walks and 15 strikeouts over 7 games in Spring Training before the shutdown in March. Goody has seen Major League action in each of the past six seasons with New York-AL (2015-16), Cleveland (2017-19) and Texas (2020).
Gibaut is 0-1 with a 6.57 ERA (9 ER/12.1 IP) over 14 outings with Texas, tied for the staff lead in appearances this season. He has allowed 9 walks with 14 strikeouts. Gibaut allowed 3 runs in 0.1 inning last night vs. Oakland.
