COVID-19 fatalities up to 68 in Bowie County

TEXARKANA — The Bowie County emergency operations center reported 68 deaths from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The total number of cases since March is 957 with 420 recoveries. There are currently 469 active cases in the county.

Anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or any healthcare provider that conducts such testing should notify the Bowie-Texarkana Health Department at 903-255-5560.

In nearby Cass County, there have been 246 cases since the pandemic began with 192 recoveries and nine deaths. There are currently 45 active cases in the county.

The state of Arkansas is reporting at least 222 students, teachers, and staff at its public schools are actively infected with COVID-19, just four days into the new school year. The state is releasing numbers at districts that have more than five confirmed cases. The state says there have been seven more fatalities from COVID-19 and two fewer people hospitalized.
