LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas has reported its greatest one-day increase in new coronavirus cases. The Department of Health on Friday reported 1,094 new confirmed cases of the virus that causes COVID-19, bringing the state’s total since the pandemic began to 64,175. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 rose by 12 to 874. The number of people hospitalized decreased by 24 to 401. The increase came as the University of Arkansas said it was suspending most on-campus activities other than classes and athletics. The Fayetteville school also moved to ban large parties off-campus by students.
