The De Kalb Bears’ season remains unblemished with a convincing win over Sabine, 22-14.
After a scoreless first quarter, both defenses were holding their own, but De Kalb would be the first to strike, as QB A.J. Burgin would keep it himself, and cash it in for six, following a blocked extra point.
Sabine would answer fairly quickly, with a QB keeper of their own to go up 7-6, which would be the score going into halftime.
The bears would not waste time, as RB Jamar Vaughn would make his presence felt, and rumble up the gut for a 5-yard touchdown. De Kalb would go for two and get it, making the score 14-7.
In the fourth, De Kalb would put the nail in the coffin, after Kaleb Dooley took a pitch from Burgin to the promised land, to go up 22-7. And that would ultimately be enough.
Offensive player of the game: Whitt Sparks
Defensive player of the game: Devin Gaffney
Next week, De Kalb welcomes Daingerfield into town, and puts its undefeated record to the test.
