Liberty-Eylau’s Damian Henderson celebrated Senior Night in a big way Friday at Harris Field against Life Waxahachie.
Henderson rushed for a career-high 242 yards and scored five touchdowns to rally the Leopards past Life Waxahachie, 49-21.
The Leopards were caught sleep-walking most of the first half and fell behind 21-8. L-E scored three touchdowns in the final five minutes of the second quarter to take a 28-21 advantage. The Leopards would end up scoring 41 unanswered points.

Henderson scored on runs of 16, 5, 52 and 52 yards. He also caught at 36-yard touchdown pass.
It was L-E’s defense scoring first in the game. Takylan Hampton intercepted a Mustang pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown with 8:27 left in the first quarter.
The Mustangs would answer with 21 straight points.
Running back Elyjah Berry scored on a 2-yard run with 7:01 remaining in the opening period. Berry raced 57 yards early in the second quarter for another six points. Dreylon DeQuire scored the Mustangs final touchdown with 8:31 left in the first half.
Henderson’s first two touchdowns would follow, and Se’maj Rose scored from 17 yards on a double-reverse with 39 seconds left before intermission. Sophomore quarterback Jaydin Hampton played well for the winners.
The win was Liberty-Eylau’s third straight. The Leopards travel to Van next week for their final tuneup before district play.
