In a crucial matchup, the De Kalb Bears and Prairiland Patriots were looking to get their first win in district play.

After a scoreless first quarter, De Kalb was the first to reach pay dirt with an 8-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0.

Prairiland did not waste too much time as they ran it in for a touchdown of their own to tie the game up. Right before half, Prairiland would tack on another score to give De Kalb its first deficit, 14-7 at the half.

But the Bears would not stay down for long as Jamar Vaughn would go in for his second touchdown of the night. The play of the night occurred when Qb A.J. Burgin flung a 50-yard bomb into the waiting hands of Kole Dooley to make it 20-14 De Kalb.

Vaughn would rush for his third touchdown of the evening, and De Kalb’s defense led by Ross Tapley and Peyton Yandle would put their claws down and hold off the Patriots’ comeback to bring the W on home to Bowie County.
