TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) is investigating a crash where a driver allegedly struck a motorized bicycle rider and fled the scene without stopping.

Police say they were dispatched to Magnolia Street to the report of a crash shortly after 12:00 p.m. Sunday. TTPD says they found the 51-year-old victim lying in the street with injuries. According to police, an older, red Honda two-door vehicle fled the scene after colliding with the victim.

According to traffic investigators, the victim was riding his motorized bike on Magnolia Street when the Honda turned left from West 38th Street at a high rate of speed. Police say the driver overcorrected during the turn and cross into the southbound lane of Magnolia Street and into the bike’s path.

Police say the victim was thrown onto the windshield of the Honda before rolling off onto the street. Police also say the driver of the Honda didn’t stop and was last seen headed east toward North Stateline Avenue.

The victim was transported to the victim to Wadley Regional Hospital via LifeNet Ambulance. The victim is listed in serious but stable condition, sustaining broken bones and numerous lacerations as a result of the crash, police say.

Investigators are requesting help locating the red Honda and the driver. Police say the vehicle should have fresh damage on the driver’s side front, hood, and windshield. Anyone with any information on the red Honda or the accident should call the Texarkana Texas police at 903-798-3116.
