TEXARKANA — A staff member for the Texarkana Arkansas School District (TASD) tested positive for the coronavirus, the district announced.

The district would not disclose at what school the staff members works, only that two classrooms are quarantined. The staff member will not return to school for at least 10 days, and students who were in close contact with the staff member will be quarantined for 14 days.

TASD’s established protocol is to thoroughly disinfect all areas of the building that the individual used in the past couple of days. The district is also in contact with the Arkansas Department of Health and says they will take the steps necessary to protect the health of our students and staff.

Classes resumed at the school Thursday morning as normal. The district says they are closely monitoring the situation.
