TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department announced a joint task force that broke up illicit drugs, weapons, and vice crimes in the area of North State Line Avenue on Oct. 30.

According to the TAPD, who coordinated with the Texarkana Texas Police Department, the Arkansas State Police, the Miller County Sheriff’s Department, and the Department of Homeland Security, the joint task force made 16 felony arrests and 13 misdemeanor arrests were made in Arkansas and Texas.

Police say there were four felony arrest warrants that were served and 12 misdemeanor arrest warrants that were served in Arkansas. According to police, 87.4 grams of felony drugs (including heroin and methamphetamine) were seized while 121.8 grams of misdemeanor drugs were seized.

The operations, police say, were the result of constant criminal activity reported by neighboring citizens and visitors to Texarkana.

Law enforcement officers in the area will continue to focus on these types of crimes, police say, until the issues are eradicated in the area.
