TEXARKANA — Fox Sports Texarkana set a new Texarkana radio record with a nine-hour remote on Thursday during the annual “Marathon for the Hungry.”
The station broadcast a nine-hour live remote to raise awareness for the Harvest Regional Food Bank. By the most important measure, food gathered, the remote was a huge hit as over two tons of food was brought in for the food bank to help the less fortunate in the Twin Cities region.
“In sports, the most heroic efforts that we remember are the ones where individuals laid it all on the line for the greater good,” station owner Bob DelGiorno said. “Today, Fox Sports Texarkana laid it on the line for the greater good of the needy and underserved in the Texarkana area. We give all glory to God and, just like in sports, success can’t be accomplished without great teammates, and we had that today in Texar Federal Credit Union, Super 1 Foods, Wright Patman Chapter of Credit Unions, and Texarkana Emergency Center and Hospital. They all came through in the clutch for the Harvest Regional Food Bank.”
The food bank is still accepting nonperishable food items for the needy. The Harvest Regional Food Bank is located at 3120 East 19th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. For more information, visit https://harvestregionalfoodbank.org/
