The Arkansas State Police is investigating the homicide of a 41-year-old Prescott woman that investigators believe happened inside her own home.

Police say that Tina Nicole Whitten was found dead outside her home at 502 East Second Street on the evening of Dec. 1. Special agents of the Arkansas State Police’s criminal investigation division believe Whitten was the victim of a deadly attack that occurred around 5:30 p.m. inside her residence. Whitten’s body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory where a manner and cause of death will be determined.

Local law enforcement responded to Whitten’s home after 7:30 p.m. following telephone reports to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department of a woman’s body being found outside the home on East Second Street.

State police is holding a 48-year-old man of Rosston, Arkansas, in connection with the homicide while the criminal investigation division continues Wednesday awaiting formal charges to be filed by the Nevada County prosecuting attorney.
