
GILMER, TX-The Pleasant Grove Hawks defeated the Gilmer Buckeyes on the road Tuesday night 72-57. The Hawks boys basketball team moved into sole possession of first place in district 14 4A-DII with the win.
Pleasant Grove (9-6, 4-0) was led by senior point guard T’vondrick Henry who scored 28 points. Henry is committed to play college basketball next year at Ouachita Baptist University in Henderson, Ark. Hawks senior big man Torey Phillips poured in 13 points for the Hawks and he had a double-double while his freshman brother Torion Phillips scored 12 points. Brett Carmony scored 15 points for PG, including 3-threes.
Henry was named the 94.1 FM ESPN Radio-exceed Urgent Care Player of the game.
Hawks senior point guard T’vondrick Henry said the Hawks are improving
“I feel like we were competitive the whole time,” T’vondrick Henry said. “We’re getting better.”

Torey Phillips said that the Hawks won a tough one Tuesday.
“It was a tough game,” Phillips said. “They played us real well. I think the key to it was we battled through adversity, stuck to it and finished on top.”
Hawks head coach Dwight McCowan said that his team will take it.
“I think we were lethargic early on,” McCowan said. “It was a tough district road win. We’ll take it.
Gilmer (4-4,2-1)was lead by Ke’Shun Jimmerson who scored 20 points. Jay Rockwell poured in 18for the Buckeyes.
The Pleasant Grove boys host Paris Friday night. The Hawks vs Paris game will be live on 94.1 FM ESPN-Texarkana, Tip off about 7 p.m.
