Prices for gas in Texarkana are on the rise.
According to new data from AAA Texas, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.17, three cents higher compared to a week ago at the same time. The prices are also the fourth-highest in the state and five cents higher than the statewide average. Only El Paso ($2.32), Odessa ($2.30), and Midland ($2.27) had higher gas prices.
The cheapest prices in the state are still in the Sherman-Denison area where gas is $1.99.
Prices for the state of Texas are tied with Missouri for the third-cheapest in the country at $2.12. Only Mississippi ($2.09) and Oklahoma ($2.11) have cheaper prices. Louisiana is fifth at $2.13 and Arkansas is tied with South Carolina for the sixth-cheapest at $2.17.
“Rising crude oil prices have led to an increase at the pump for drivers in the Lone Star State,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “And while the price increase trend has shown signs of slowing, higher crude oil prices may be on the horizon despite gasoline demand continuing to be below January 2020 levels.”
