TEXARKANA — The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) is asking drivers to stay at home as crews continue to clear the roads of snow and ice.
Winter weather is impacting the Texarkana area roadways as well as the nine-county Atlanta District of TXDOT. The counties included are Bowie, Camp, Cass, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Panola, Titus and Upshur counties.
The transportation department says crews are deployed and working around the clock focusing on clearing higher volume corridors such as Interstate 20, Interstate 30, U.S.-59, and “trouble spots” as they crop up.
The roads are technically not closed, but all roads have been impacted by the weather.
Due to record-breaking low temperatures, TXDOT is hoping drivers will stay at home, which allows crews to address the roadways, even amid the freezing temperatures.
Until the winter weather subsides, the situation will persist with not all roadways clear of ice and snow. The transportation department asks motorists to stay home.
