Evangel College, Ozarks fall victim to TAMU-T in Missouri

Texas A&M University-Texarkana won two games Monday over Evangel College and College of the Ozarks.

 

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Jaylen Prince and Cole Chambers swung some hot bats Monday in leading Texas A&M-Texarkana to a pair of wins over Evangel College and College of the Ozarks.

Prince drove in four runs with a home run and double as the Eagles rallied past Evangel, 7-6. Prince plated two more runs, while Chambers homered, scored twice and drove in three runs to get TAMU-T past Ozarks, 8-5.

The Eagles improve to 5-5 overall. They play Evangel Tuesday at 11 a.m., and College of the Ozarks at 1 p.m.

Evangel College blew a 5-0 advantage

Evangel led Monday’s first game 5-0 going to the bottom of the fourth. The Eagles scored twice in the fourth, twice in the fifth and three times in the sixth.

Southpaw Mike Herrera pitched the seventh inning, getting the win and a save. He gave up a solo home run to Jason Jarrell, but escaped further damage with three strikeouts. Jared Davis started for the winners, and Carter Coats pitched two hitless innings.

Eric Spencer and Wyatt Stavinoha had two hits each for the Eagles. Dakota Leopold drove in a run with a double.

Texarkana trailed College of the Ozarks 3-1 after two innings. The Eagles captured the lead for good with three runs in the third. Trevor Stone was the winning pitcher, with Jordan Izzo getting a save.

Jack Skinner singled, scored a run and drove in another for the Eagles.
