Texarkana Texas partnering with Texas A&M Forestry Service for Arbor Day tree giveaway

Texarkana

TEXARKANA — The city of Texarkana, Texas, and the Texas A&M Forestry Service is partnering up for their 7th annual Arbor Day tree giveaway.

The event starts at 9:00 a.m. on March 6 at Spring Lake Park across from the Rotary Splash Pad. The giveaway will extend all the way until all trees are given away. The available species may include cherry bark, bald cypress, and sawtooth oak.

Members of the city’s planning and community development department and the Texas A&M Forest Service will be on-hand to give away 1,000 bare root seedlings. The public is invited to be a part of the tree giveaway. However, due to lockdown adherence those interested in obtaining trees will be asked to stay in their vehicles and a volunteer will bring the trees to the vehicles.

The city says tree species have been carefully researched by a certified arborist and varieties were selected that can adapt to Texarkana’s climate.
