Katelyn Slamer scored Texas A&M-Texarkana’s final run of the day Wednesday at Bramlett Field as the Eagles registered their first two wins of the 2021 softball season against Texas A&M-San Antonio.

Slamer stroked her fourth hit in the sixth inning of the game in the nightcap. She stole second, moved up on a passed ball, and scored on Erika Richardson’s single to left. That hit game the Eagles an 8-0 run-rule victory.

Slamer had to share the spotlight with pitcher Dorrie Cormier. She shut out TAMU-SA on two hits, walking one and striking out 11. Richardson and Gracelyn Spring had two hits each for the winners. Alicia Mora scored a run and drove in another with a triple, and Jewels Caro had three RBI, despite not having a base hit.
