Eagles’ pitching dominates Texas A&M-San Antonio softball team again

Texas A&M University-Texarkana completed a sweep of its three-game softball series with Texas A&M University-San Antonio Thursday at Bramlett Field in Spring Lake Park.

The Eagles (3-3, 3-0) allowed only one run in the series, with Anna Westberry picking up her second win in two days. Westberry shut out the Roadrunners, 8-0. she scattered four hits, walking none and striking out four.

TAMU-T won its second straight run-rule contest with a five-run uprising in the sixth inning.


Eagles’ softball players pound ball

Leading 3-0 going to the sixth, Katelyn Slamer started the frame with a walk. Slamer scored when Erika Richardson doubled over the centerfielder’s head. Jewels Caro then delivered a two-run homer on an 0-2 offering. Jordyn Logan kept the inning going by reaching on an error by the first baseman. Logan stole second, and Alicia Mora was hit by the next pitch.

Logan and Mora pulled off a double steal, and both scored on Gracelyn Spring’s single to left.

Richardson led Texarkana at the plate with two doubles. She scored twice and drove in one run. Slamer had a run-scoring triple, and scored twice. Caro drove in three runs for the second time in two days.

Ebbie Rodriguez was the losing pitcher for the Roadrunners. Rangel had two hits for the visitors.
