TEXARKANA — The Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) says they have arrested a 17-year-old male, Rickalon Young, on charges of making a firearm accessible to a child.

Police say a 13-year-old boy shot his girlfriend in January accidentally when dropped on the floor — at least, that was the initial story after the incident at a house on Apache Trail.

According to TTPD, an investigation revealed the boy would have had to have been pointing the gun at his girlfriend when the gun went off. That 13-year-old, according to police, was arrested for aggravated assault.

A further investigation, police say, revealed that the 17-year-old male brought the gun to the house and gave it to the 13-year-old prior to the girl being shot.

According to police, the girl was treated at a nearby hospital and released.

The 17-year-old is at the Bi-State Jail with a $15,000 bond.
