BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Cole Chambers continued his hot hitting with three doubles and a single in the nightcap of Saturday’s doubleheader with the Blue Mountain Toppers. The Eagles scored in the first six innings to split the twinbill, 17-5. The Toppers (2-2) won the opener, 7-2.
Chambers also contributed four runs scored and drove in four runs. Hunter Reid hit a three-run homer for the Eagles. Dakota Leopold had an inside-the-park roundtripper. Ryan Peterson drove in three runs with two singles, and Mateo Martinez plated two runs with two hits. T.J. Krause also drove in two runs with a single.
Chambers has six hits against Blue Mountain
TAMU-T (8-6) used six pitchers in the game. Zac Harrington was the winning pitcher in relief of Sean Townsend, who went the first two innings. Daniel Morales, Noah Vaughn, Jordan Johnson and Mike Herrera pitched one inning each.
The host Toppers scored all the runs they needed in the first inning of the opener with four off loser Jared Davis.
The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the seconds, adding another in the fourth. Angel Mauricio drove in both runs. Chambers had two hits to lead Texarkana at the plate. Jack Skinner also had two hits.
Anthony Lipsey led the winners with two hits, two runs and three RBIs. Matt Crowder and Nash Schingle had 2 RBIs each. Jack Hilton was the winning pitcher in relief.
