The Rangers lost to the Angels, 6-2, in 6 complete innings on Wednesday at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

Steele Walker, making his first start of the spring, led off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a solo home run for the first Texas run.  Adolis García hit an RBI single in the 6th inning for the club’s other run.  Rougned Odor started at third base and Ronald Guzmán made a start in left field.  Odor handled both chances in the field (groundball, lineout) and Guzmán had only a single hit his way.  Both players singled in the game and Guzmán added a walk.  Andy Ibanez hit a one-out triple in the 5th, but was stranded at third.  Pitchers Jimmy Herget, Nick Vincent, and Hunter Wood each posted a scoreless inning to begin the game, holding the Angels without a run through 3 frames.

The Angels scored twice in the 4th inning on a Luis Rengifo RBI single that trickled up the middle, along with an unearned run after a throwing error by Jonah Heim.  Shohei Ohtani hit a 2-run home run off Hans Crouse in the 5th, as that inning was eventually “rolled” with one out.  Each of the Rangers’ first 4 games have featured exactly 6 innings.

The Rangers are scheduled to host the Padres in Surprise on Thursday, with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. CT.  LHP Joe Palumbo will start for Texas in his spring debut against San Diego LHP MacKenzie Gore (1st outing).  A free audio webcast of tomorrow’s action can be found at, with Matt Hicks and Jared Sandler on the call.
