GILMER, Texas – Junior Gage Bellatti kept Liberty-Eylau unbeaten (14-4, 6-0) in District 15-4A Tuesday night with an eight-inning gem against the Gilmer Buckeyes, 3-0.
Bellatti went the distance, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out a career-high 16.
L-E coach awed by junior Gage Bellatti
“Gage Bellatti had one of the most incredible pitching performances I have seen since I’ve been coaching high school baseball,” said L-E coach Zach Fowler. “Gilmer’s pitcher kept us off balance all night, but we finally were able to push some runs across in extra innings. It was a great ball game.”
The Leopards scored their three runs in the top of the eighth on run-scoring hits by Zach Brush and Bryce Blackwell. Bellatti helped his own cause with a double, while Nate Moore and Hunter Bucks contributed a single each.
