Arkansas High students win 1st place in fishing tournament

TEXARKANA — Two Arkansas High School students walked away with first place in the Trader Bill’s High School Fishing Trail on Lake Ouachita.

Layton Lammers and William Massey took home the first place prize of $237.50, weighing in at 11.23 pounds and a $60 for Big Bass with a weight of 4.21. Lammers and Massey also won two Denali rods.

Trader Bill’s Outdoor Sports says they believe in teaching children to fish in order to help them create a lifetime of learning and amazing experiences, which is why they have had their tournaments for over 18 years.

“Competitive fishing teaches children the value of working toward a goal and gives them the opportunity to have comradery with other young anglers, and gives them the opportunity to experience success,” said Team Sponsor Kelly Massey.

The championship is April 25 on Lake Hamilton.
